It's A Dog's World is a pro-life (no-kill) rescue located in Fargo, North Dakota. We specialize in large breed dogs, but we will not turn any dog away based on size. We got our first Great Dane, Sam, because a local rescue couldn't take a dog as large as he was at 225 pounds. Oh, we've cleaned him up and he stays between 180 and 190 pounds depending on the season. Because of the nutritional program we have Sam on, he bounces around now like a three-year-old (he is seven years old)! We don't want to see any dog destroyed simply because they are too big and no one wants them.

May 20, 2009: Thank you all for your generous support as we had to evacuate our home and rescue in Fargo due to the flooding and bad weather. Some of you donated money - for that we are extremely grateful. We are still cleaning and repairing as our home/rescue took on water. You see, we operate out of a mobile home and a temporary clay dyke was constructed in front of our home, leaving our home on the river side of the dyke. We thought it best to evacuate, after seeing to the safety of our dogs and others entrusted to our care. Thank you to friends of ours in West Fargo who took us into their home with some of our dogs for three weeks. Yes, we have home owners insurance, but they don't want to give us what it will take to get us back in operation. FEMA turned us down because we were "adequately insured" (not!). We are looking at $12,000.00 in repair costs. If you wish to donate to the rescue to help with these costs, we will be back in business soon. Otherwise, for now, we are only giving courtesy postings for adoptable dogs and managing as many dogs as possible in foster homes. For a courtesy posting, simply email the dog's story to us, including a picture, and we will post it right away. In order to keep the posting current, we ask that you recontact us once every week that the dog is still available. Again, thank you all for your support, now let's rescue some more dogs!

We are filing for 501(c)(3) status in order to become a public charity and we are already a non-profit corporation within the state of North Dakota. We are attempting to come up with the $750 needed to file with the IRS. We will keep you posted here as to the status of our filing with the federal government.
